Chicken Tikka Masala

Chicken Tikka Masala is one of the most popular dishes in Indian cuisine. A really delicious dish which goes perfect with Naan/Chapati. My friends in Washington love this a lot. Whenever we go to an Indian restaurant, this is a dish they can't avoid ordering. So I thought of uploading this recipe for them & for my blogger friends so that you all can give it a try at home when there is a craving! You have to prepare Chicken Tikka as in my earlier recipe and then prepare the gravy as explained below. Hope you'll enjoy preparing & enjoy eating as well :)

Check Chikken Tikka recipe here (Prepare without Bell pepper(Capsicum))

Ingredients for the masala
  • 3/4 cup finely diced Onion
  • 1 tsp Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • 1 1/2 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp Kasuri methi (dry fenugreek leaves) powder
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp Kashmiri chilly powder
  • 5 Bay leaves
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/4 tsp Cloves powder
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1/2 cup chopped Tomatoes
  • 4 tbsp Cashew paste
  • 1/2 cup Heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped Cilantro leaves
  • Salt as required
Directions
  1. Take a pan and pour oil. When oil is slightly hot, add cumin and bay leaves,. Then add onion, ginger-garlic paste, salt and saute till golden brown.
  2. Add cloves powder, cinnamon powder, cardamom powder, coriander powder, kasuri methi, chilly powder and saute for some more time.
  3. Add tomatoes and saute till mushy.
  4. Mix in cashew paste, lemon juice & bring to boil.
  5. Reduce flame and stir in heavy cream and garam masala.
  6. Mix in the prepared chicken tikka pieces into it. Close and cook for 5 more min.
  7. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve hot with Naan, chapati or fried rice.

Hi Teena, this sounds fabulous. I haven't had this dish in over 40 years. It sounds very much like the dish I would order when I went to an Indian restaurant in the U.K. Thanks for sharing.
I have recently found your blog and am now following you, and will visit often. Please stop by my blog and perhaps you would like to follow me also. Have a wonderful day. Hugs, Chris
